Why are people homeless?

Okay, I will start off by saying I realize this is a very controversial topic, but I will keep it short and sweet and focus a different perspective most do not consider. Also, when I say 'homeless' I literally mean 'living on the street not inside an actual house/apartment'. Sleeping on a friend's or family member's couch in a warm home or apartment with electricity, running water and meals at a dining table is not homeless. I am talking only personal possessions include a garbage bag full of junk and pushing a shopping cart and sleeping in an alley on the ground in 12 degrees outside in the middle of winter. That, is homeless.

Why people are not homeless

  • Because they lost their job and couldn't afford to pay their mortgage or rent
  • Because they gambled their life savings and couldn't afford to pay for their mortgage or rent
  • Because they arrived home from serving the military and couldn't get a new job

Why people are homeless

  • Because they were mean to their loved ones (family and friends) and burned bridges and ruined relationships
  • Because they chose alcohol and/or drugs as their true love and only friend
  • Because they physically and/or mentally abused loved ones without getting caught by authorities

So as you can see, if you put two and two together, in order to not be homeless, just be nice to people who will let you live in their home with them until you can get back on your feet for whatever reason you became 'off your feet'. Get it? Not that any homeless person is reading this, but those of you at home/office/coffee shop reading this have a different perspective on this controversial topic.
